EWS #5 Burke – 1st Podium for the COMMENCAL Enduro Project

The EWS world gathered in Burke (USA) last weekend, for the fifth round of the Enduro World Series season. The stages in Burke were physically demanding, and featured long pedalling sections, lots of rocks and general slipperiness.

After a fall on the Pro-Stage, Alex Rudeau took 26th place on the first day. Despite that bad start he managed to stay focused and progress on the second day. He finished the last two (and longest) stages on Sunday in 9th and 7th place. This result projected him up to 10th place overall.

Meanwhile, Guillaume Larbeyou changed his pre-run preparation in the hope to end his crash-streak. And it was successful! He finished all stages in the top 20, and he therefore took a great 11th place over the weekend. He said afterwards, “It feels good to finish a complete race on the bike. It gives me confidence and I can't wait for the next one.”

Louis Jeandel also had some clean stages, in particular a 9th place on S2 and 6th on S5. He finished 14th overall.
Thanks to those results and the work by the team, we can safely say that the COMMENCAL Enduro Project reached their goals last weekend. In addition to obtaining those nice individual results, the team finished 3rd on the team-of-the-day podium! In the individual overall rankings, the results are also on the up. Alex, Louis and Guillaume are now in 16th, 17th and 18th place respectively. The team is 7th in the world ranking.

Last but not least, regarding the prototype bike, the latest modifications made to Alex's bike following tests in Andorra seem to be successful. They will be implemented on future team bikes.
Next up, this weekend in Sugarloaf, Maine (USA) for the 6th stage of the Enduro World Series!
