EWS Finale Ligure : Crazy weekend !

SATURDAY

The first win on stage 1 would be important and on the day, the job was done as always! Cécile won with a 1-minute lead, a walk in the park … Amongst the men, it was much more complicated. Yoann Barelli hit a tree and damaged his telescopic seat post which hampered him on the last quarter of the stage. Kevin Miquel fell twice although he felt strong.

For the downhillers, this first stage was a real test! Amaury did not fair too badly whilst Remi Thirion was still looking for the rhythm. A funny sub-event was also taking place, the World Championships of Enduro Downhill Nations... France against the rest of the world! France was leading with Loris Vergier on the team...

Cécile did not give anything away on stage 2 which she won with 8 seconds! She just can’t get enough! The guys were not having as much joy... the lack of a telescopic seat post still handicapped Yoann who cannot repair it until he returns to the pits... Kévin begins to find some form and the DHers feel more and more comfortable on this shorter, steeper trail.

Stage 3 was probably the least spectacular of the weekend with lots of flat corners, stairs and rocky straight lines, interest was limited. Regardless, Cécile did not want to miss the chance to win a stage again and Kevin confirmed that he found the flow and comes back in 13th place!

SUNDAY

Second day of a mad weekend of racing!

Almost a perfect season, Cécile confirmed it with another victory having won almost all of the weekends stages. She had already secured the overall EWS title in Whistler, Canada and it’s the second World Championship title of her career.

As for the rest of the Enduro Team, Kevin took a respectable 19th place with a 31st for Yoann Barelli after his mechanical problem.

The DHers also came by good results with 30th place for Amaury (knocking Yoann out to 31st). Junior Theotim Trabac was 4th over the weekend also!
