World Cup #1 Maribor - Qualification

The DH World Cup is back in Maribor!
As we kick-off again it is in fact an unprecedented World Cup coming up, as there are two rounds on this (slightly differing) Slovenian track!
The first will take place this Friday, the second on Sunday.
Qualifying for the first round took place on Thursday and the COMMENCAL riders continue on a roll with their good performances from Leogang a week ago.

It must be said that the weather is still cold and wet in Maribor making the riding conditions particularly difficult.
However, the track remains very different to that in Austria, and it’s still running much faster than the oily mud of last weekend in Leogang.

Like at World Champs, Thibaut Daprela and Rémi Thirion showed their prowess in these conditions, achieving 2nd and 5th in the Men’s Elite
Benoît Coulanges took the 16th fastest time. Baptiste Pierron and Hugo Frixtalon came 29th and 30th.

In Elite Women, the ladies from the World Champs podium last week are still in good shape!
Myriam Nicole came 2nd despite an error at the first split. She was followed by Monika Hrastnik (3rd) and new World Champion Camille Balanche (5th).

Finally, our Junior Men also had promising qualifications.
Pau Menoyo was 2nd and Daniel Slack 3rd! Young Frenchman Tom Guillo took the 25th time.

See you tomorrow for the finals of this first round!
