Rocks, roots, new off-camber steep sections and other more typical bike park features... The new version of the Lenzerheide track had it all and provided us with an incredible final! With many possible line choices on more than a few stages of the track, it proved to be difficult to tame all week for most riders. In the end, it was the COMMENCAL Muc-Off Team who came out on top!
In the Elite Women’s race, Myriam Nicole won her first World Cup of the season! She was just ahead of the Camille Balanche, who has mostly dominated so far. In her native Switzerland, Cami won her qualification round, but Myriam upped her game in the final. Pompon said afterwards, “This win means so much! Nothing is possible without my COMMENCAL Muc-Off team and all the people who allow me to always push my limits. I was on fire today! I was super hungry for this first victory, that's for sure. It feels good!”
Camille Balanche was also strong on this track. With a superb second place she keeps her leader’s jersey. The podium was completed by newly crowned (again) European Champion, Monika Hrastnik in 4th! Mille Johnset (8th) showed that she's gaining confidence on her bike and with her team (COMMENCAL 100%), and that the speed is there!
In the Elite Men’s race we had to wait for the very last rider down the hill to know the eventual winner. Impressive, efficient and with a run much more controlled than in some of his latest wins, Amaury Pierron once again pulled out a monstrous performance. It’s three wins in four rounds for Momo! He therefore keeps the leader’s jersey.
Benoit Coulanges came in 5th, he's also a podium regular this season. Thibaut Daprela was in the top ten in 10th, showing that he's gradually finding the rhythm and pace. Angel Suarez came in 16th. He had the speed but a crash pushed him down the field. After a good week with the 16th fastest time in qualifying, Hugo Frixtalon finished 24th in the final. Just ahead of Baptiste Pierron in 28th.
Enduro rider Alizés Lassus finished 9th in Junior Women. She was followed by COMMENCAL USA rider Riley Miller in 13th. Amongst the Junior Men, Alix Francoz finished 11th, Jack Piercy 16th, Hugo Marini 24th.
With all their splendid performances the COMMENCAL Muc-Off Team strengthened their lead in the overall team competition.
Congratulations to all our riders, see you this weekend already at home in Andorra, for the 5th round of the season!
