World Cup #3 : Maribor – Finals

Riders and staff have been working in unbearable heat for a week in Maribor. Today for the final, the COMMENCAL riders set the Slovenian track on fire!

Second last to start after his 2nd place in qualifying , Thibaut Daprela crossed the finish line in the lead after an exceptional run. He was finally beaten by 1.755 seconds but finished in a very good 2nd place. Precious points for him this weekend which allow him to retain his lead in the overall classification of the World Cup. He keeps the leader's jersey and his #1 plate for the next race in Lenzerheide at the beginning of September.

4 COMMENCAL riders in the TOP 10 in the Elite Mens category!

He stayed in the hot seat for a long time and after his puncture yesterday, Benoit Coulanges of the Dorval Team finished 6th on the day with a very nice run. The Spaniard Angel Suarez of the COMMENCAL 21 team once again proveed his consistency with a 9th place. Dan Slack confirmed his prowess from the day before and won his first top 10 finish in an elite World Cup. A superb performance for his first year in the category, BRAVO! 23rd with less than 20 hundredths of a second off the top 20, Dylan Levesque showed that the ultra-dry track of Maribor suited him well.

Amongst the ladies, “Cocorico" Myriam Nicole is back on the top of the box! A very clean run from Pompon and it paid off as she crossed the finish line.
Completing the podium was the reigning world champion Camille Balanche, and her team mate Monika Hrastnik who was 4th at home in front of her family and fans.

In the Junior mens category, Tristan Lemire was 5th and Pau Menoyo 8th.

After the excellent results of their riders, the COMMENCAL MUC OFF team won Team of the Day!

We’re hoping that the many champagne showers of the day will have helped refresh our champions!
