BMX PROJECT HEADING TO PARIS

Our two COMMENCAL BMX PROJECT riders, Laura Smulders and Sylvain André, have have a rendezvous with History in Paris.

Injuries are now a distant memory for Laura Smulders and Sylvain André and that is excellent news! Back behind the start gate, riding our BMX Race Prototype, they showed what they are capable of during the World Championships in Rock Hill back in May.

Laura achieved fifth place and Sylvain took his place on the podium with the bronze medal.

Results which logically open the doors to the BMX Race event which will take place in Paris on 1st and 2nd of August 2024.

Sylvain will ride alongside Jauris Daudet, Romain Mahieu, Axelle Étienne, Tessa Martinez and Arthur Pilard in the French selection.

It is with great pride that I represent France for the home Games. It’s also a milestone in my quest for a gold medal. We are getting closer to the ultimate goal of the BMX Project with Laura, and all that remains is to make the COMMENCAL colours shine!Sylvain André

As for Laura, she will line up at the start as part of the Dutch team, alongside her sister Merel, Olympic Champion Niek Kimmann, Jaymio Brink and Manon Veenstra.

“I’m very happy and proud to be selected. The last few months have felt like a bit of a rollercoaster. After crashing at the first World Cup weekend of the year, I had to come back from injuries to be ready to compete again as quickly as possible to qualify for the Games.

I feel better week after week and I'm excited for the last two months of preparation before Paris!

It's really cool to see Sylvain regain his top speed after his injury last year. Seeing him finish on the podium at Worlds really highlighted the work he has done. It’s incredible and truly special that we can both represent COMMENCAL at such an important event.Laura Smulders
