The first journalists to have tested the META POWER 29 2021 include Montenbaik, the most read MTB magazine in Chile!
Journalist Pedro Barroso had the opportunity to ride and test the META POWER 29 TEAM 2021 with our COMMENCAL Chile rep, Lesly Etchegaray. In this video posted on Instagram, the journalist shares his comments about the bike. And they are only positive!

After a test carried out on the trails of the Andes Pacifico, one of the most popular enduro races in the country, below is the journalist's feedback.

"Beyond appearance, the META POWER 29 2021 still has some differences compared to the 2020 version. The reach is longer, while the new top tube means the saddle is lower. There is also a slacker head angle. (…) The result is a super aggressive e-bike built with top RockShox components and a sensitive single pivot suspension system offering excellent grip.”

“The battery life is very good and means the rider can adjust the motor between two different configurations, performance and endurance for example. (…) The engine is so efficient that it gives the impression there’s a tale wind on the climbs. The Japanese engine (Shimano EP8) is particularly quiet.”

Invited by Pedro Barroso for the test, professional rider Lukas Hammersley also gives his opinion:

"It's a bike made to send heavy. It is very stable thanks to the new geometry which is more aggressive than the old one. The choice made on the Zeb Ultimate is excellent, as it wants to be rigid at the front... This bike is a little bit like a train... A good weight that means the bike is playful and its stability means you can control it well through turns. It's very well balanced, you feel very comfortable on the handlebars and there’s no fatigue in the legs.”

The conclusion of the Chilean journalist:

"Actually, I almost feel like I didn't have enough time to enjoy this bike… I wish I could keep it longer and ride it more!"

In April 2021, French magazine VTTAE.fr published a test review of our META POWER 29. Journalist Chris Caprin tested the META POWER 29 SIGNATURE, comparing it to five other e-bikes intended for enduro-style riding.
And the META POWER 29 more than convinced him! Find a selection of the French journalist's comments about the bike below.

“During the first turns after having carried out only the basic adjustments, one immediately notices that the META POWER AM pedals very well (…) That the frame is quite rigid (…) and that it is lively and easy. In short, that it is really dynamic.”

"The single-pivot rear suspension linkage is true to the spirit of the brand; simple, efficient and robust. Plus with an all Fox components (Transfer Factory seat post, 38 Kashima fork and X2 Kashima shock), full XT (transmission and 4 piston brakes with 203mm rotors) and DT Swiss H 1700 e-bike wheels, we are really in the presence of a bike that exudes reliability.”

“You can immediately feel the genes of this mountain bike that was developed on the slopes of Andorra. The COMMENCAL knows how to be very versatile, it  has strong climbing skills, good handling and is at ease on all types of trail. In a bike park with beautiful jumps and well-made berms, on downhill-style enduro singletrack or very technical, thin and exposed trails, it really is at ease everywhere! (...) More stable but still just as manoeuvrable, the META POWER AM 29 also surprised me with its liveliness and performance.”

“All of this leads us to the conclusion (…) that a good aluminium frame is still capable of more than honorably defending itself against carbon.”

In his review, Chris Caprin ranks the META POWER 29 SIGNATURE equal 1st in this e-bike enduro comparison;

"For me, this is the big surprise. Everything that I love. A 29-inch aluminium enduro bike, versatile, well-equipped with a very playful character and easy to ride. The components are at the top end, (…) it weighs 25kg but it doesn't feel it at all, it pedals really well and in addition, it's the one of the six which has the best autonomy… No, honestly, I had a great time behind the handlebars.”
