World Cup #7: Lenzerheide - 3rd Win For Amaury Pierron This Season

Waking up to fine rain on Saturday morning before finals in Lenzerheide, the sky was dark and heavy with fog, the day was off to a less than perfect start...

Eventually, there was no rain for the race and a bit of fog or parts of wet track would not stop Amaury Pierron! Starting 5th last, ‘Momo' literally flew from top to bottom. A technically perfect run, with the commitment of a winner! Out of the start hut, until the finish line, Amaury made time over his competitors and he crossed the line in 1st almost a second ahead!

With this 3rd win of the season, he's 90 points off 1st in the overall standings. Everything is still possible and it will be decided during the last round of the season in Snowshoe, USA, in mid-September.

Mountain biking is often also a family story and another Pierron, Baptiste of Team DORVAL, had a great run. 17th for him, also behind the bars of his SUPREME DH 29.
New dad Remi Thirion came in 24th and perhaps he was disappointed with that. But that’s racing sometimes!

After a superb qualification in 13th, Hugo Frixtalon was weakened by an ankle injury sustained during morning practice. In the end, he managed an honourable 28th fastest time on the day. Meanwhile, Thomas Estaque fell in the slick first corner that had caught so many others out over the weekend. But for the rest of his run he rode hard and remained positive on reflection after his weekend of racing.

Despite his puncture, Junior Thibaut Daprela scored enough points to claim the overall title, one race before the end of the series. Bravo!
