EWS #5 & 6 in Loudenvielle

After a long summer break, the EWS was back this past weekend in Loudenvielle, for the 5th and 6th rounds of the season. A first for the EWS in the French Pyrenees, it was organised amongst others by our partner Louron Bike & Trail!

First Round

The first of the two rounds took place Thursday in wet, technical and difficult conditions.

Antoine Vidal made put his technical skills to the test on the rocks and slippery roots of Loudenvielle and took 18th place. Despite everything, he was disappointed with his performance which was affected by a decline in his physical condition, logical if we look at all the enduro and DH races he's competed in since the start of the season. It only made Antoine more motivated for the following race the same weekend!

There was another good performance for Jack Piercy in the U21 category, where he was in the top 10 for the first time with a 9th place. He even came 3rd over a stage! It’s well deserved for him after the start of his season saw a lot of mechanicals and crashes.

It was a difficult day for Alex Rudeau, who crashed and injured his shoulder blade. The reigning French Champion will unfortunately  be out for the foreseeable.

Alizés Lassus was back training and aimed to compete in the second race in the same week.

Second Round

Three days after the first, the endurists were back racing in Loudenvielle.
Alex Rudeau was unable to participate due to his injury, but Alizés Lassus, Jack Piercy and Antoine Vidal provided the show for the COMMENCAL Enduro Team!

On Saturday, Alizés Lassus took part in her first U17 EWS and she won! She said, “What a weekend! My first victory for my first EWS. A great weekend of learning with the team, I can't wait to do it again next week!"

Sunday, a superb race for Jack Piercy who achieved a top 5 place in U21s for the first time! Like what we saw during the first round, the young Englishman is getting faster and faster. He even took the second fastest time on the second stage.
Finally, Antoine Vidal got a top 10 EWS finish! After several weeks of ‘break’ from enduro to race DH (with great success), he needed to make his mark on his META AM 29. He finished 10th and said, “Very happy with this second round at Loudenvielle. Good feelings on the little bike are back. It's great for the next race."

See you next weekend (September 11-12) for the 7th round of the EWS in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
