World Champs - What a day in Cairns!

What a day in Cairns!

Both the women's and men's races had us fully glued to the racing this Sunday in Cairns, there’s nothing else quite like DH to do that!

Before the start of the women’s race, one which Rachel Atherton had to sit out due to injury, 3 girls seemed unbeatable. Our Pompon was one of them! However, none of these 3 girls managed to beat the time made by Canadian Miranda Miller. Myriam Nicole finished second only a few hundredths off the fastest time after losing precious seconds by falling just before an uphill section of track.

In men’s race, the suspense also remained until the bitter end. The locals did well, 4 Australians finish in the top 6! Amaury Pierron finished with an honourable 9th place after giving everything during his run. A great performance considering we know how this track doesn't suit him.
Congrats to another Frenchie Loic Bruni, who won his second World Championship title!

Hopefully a title next year, but meanwhile, it’s holiday time for the DHers!
