Another incredible weekend of racing!
For the second round of the season in Les Gets, like in Leogang, our riders won many of the medals in the elite categories. With victory and third place in the men’s race plus second and third in the women’s, this is just the perfect start to the season!
When they’re in Les Gets, COMMENCAL riders seem to be very at home! After Amaury Pierron won here two years ago, it was Thibaut Daprela's turn to win his very first DH World Cup in an elite men’s race! An incredible run, flawless despite a soaked track after the rain returned on Saturday afternoon, it was a win which saw him to take first place in the general classification too! After his crash and injuries sustained at the Coupe de France in Les Arcs, we could never have imagined that we’d see what we saw. This victory is certainly the first of many for him!
Another first this weekend, Baptiste Pierron achieved his very first World Cup podium by taking 3rd place! A perfectly executed run for the COMMENCAL Dorval Team who are breaking their own records each World Cup, after Benoit Coulanges took 5th in Leogang.
Dylan Levesque took an awesome 20th place. He was followed by Theo Erlangsen in 23rd with another great result, Benoit Coulanges in 28th and Antoine Pierron in 30th, all those guys managing to hold their speed despite increasingly difficult conditions as the race progressed.
In the women’s race, Myriam Nicole was 2 tenths of a second off the victory… She was having the perfect run before a fall took time out of her lead. Too bad, she still managed to snatch 2nd place, the speed was there! Just behind in third place was Camille Balanche, who reinforces her World Champion status and consistency after her victory at Leogang. She retains her first place in the overall as well! Completing the podium was Monika Hrastnik in 5th, also confirming her great consistency. Her COMMENCAL Dorval teammate Mariana Salazar, took 9th place.
In junior men's, Pau Menoyo who took the win in Leogang was 8th. Tristan Lemire came 10th and Alix Francoz 12th.
COMMENCAL Dorval and COMMENCAL Muc-Off keep the first two places in the team overall standings with Muc-Off winning Team of the Day in Les Gets!
